Not going to lie, this last year was a rough one. I experienced a lot of loss — loss of a dream job, loss of a relationship, loss of a personal identity, and at times, loss of motivation. However, as a Phoenix through fire I have emerged stronger and more determined than before.
This next year I want to hit my goal weight. I want to be able to do an unassisted pull-up. I want to take my book into it’s third and fourth drafts and start seeking publication. I want to complete my first Spartan Trifecta. I want to complete my 6th Tough Mudder (and possibly my 7th). I want to run my first 1/2 marathon (ankle injury prevented me from achieving this goal this year). I want to achieve the realistic goal of reading 52 books. And so much more.
Looking back, I achieved more than I realized, more than I’ve credited myself. I completed nine races this year (an ankle injury prevented me from participating in that elusive tenth race). This next year I hope not only to match that number, but add to it and exceed even my own expectations. This year, I met David Tennant and Felicia Day. I started my journey toward paying back financial debts. I started writing again. Slowly, and inefficiently, but a started nonetheless.
With my new determined approach, I am also shifting the purpose of this website and blog to focus more on my writing
and athletic journeys. I want to encourage others through both my successes and failures. In reality, I want to expand upon what I’m already doing on Instagram (feel free to follow @mud_and_ink ). I want to facilitate a place where people can dialogue about their own journeys. I want this to be a safe space where we can encourage one another to achieve our goals and dreams.
And, I mean, it’s my website, so I will also shamelessly promote my novel and writing.
So let’s do this! Let’s make the rest of 2018 an amazing start to the year of 2019. I call it, The Year of the Comeback. Who’s with me?
